COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 4, 2015
Nikola Labs pitched today at TechCrunch Disrupt in New York City after being selected by TechCrunch editorial team and the audience as the Wild Card choice from Startup Alley.
Nikola Labs, named after esteemed electricity innovator Nikola Tesla, is commercializing a revolutionary antenna technology invented at The Ohio State University’s Electroscience Laboratory. Nikola Labs will soon launched a first product using the technology: an iPhone 6 case that converts the wasted 90 percent of energy the phone produces trying to pump out a cellphone signal, and puts it back into the phone, thus powering it for up to 30 percent longer. The same technology can also put this into many different devices, such as wearable technology, embedded sensors, medical devices and Internet of Things devices.
TechCrunch Disrupt New York 2015 was held May 4-6 at The Manhattan Center, which coincidentally is where Nikola Tesla once lived and eventually died. One feature of TechCrunch is Startup Alley where hundreds of early-stage companies showcase their talent and technology to attendees, investors and members of the press. With different companies exhibiting each day, Startup Alley hosts hundreds of exciting companies, many of which are launching for the first time. Out of Startup Alley, Nikola Labs was chosen as the "Wild Card Winner," selected by a combination of audience and editorial votes and awarded a place in the Startup Battlefield competition.
